Babylicious BBQ/Pool Party

After the baby shower, we took the festivities back to our house where the men joined us in the celebration. It was truly a packed house with lots of people, food, drinks and fun! At one point, Milton counted 21 cars in the driveway...and believe it or not it was a baby celebration and not a keg party. lol The kids had fun in the pool, almost all the food got eaten, and of course it wouldn't be a great house party without a little rock band to wrap up the night. Way too many pics to post, so go to the link and enjoy: http://picasaweb.google.com/elirivera/KaiSShower#

Baby Shower

This weekend we had the baby shower hosted by my sister, Teresa. She did an amazing job with the games, expert tips, and food. It was perfect! It was celebrated with so many wonderful friends and family from all over. I honestly couldn't have asked for more! Thank you all for being here to celebrate such a wonderful event with me and for all the amazing gifts! They will definitely come in handy!

1st annual HB LUAU Fundraiser.

This weekend we held our 1st annual luau fundraiser for the HydroBLADES. There was a lot of hard work that was put into this event and this event would not have been successful without the strong support of the members and freiends and families of the members.

The night started out with great food and chatting with those who attended the event. It was followed by the band playing some great Hawaiian tunes for everyone. The dancers came out and all focus was on them. They did a great job and always tried to involve the children that were close to the stage(well it wasn't actually a stage but you know what i mean). We are in our 8th month!!!!

Tampa Dragon Boat Race 05.02.09

Earlier this month I made my last trip with our dragon boat team (at least until the baby comes). We headed to Tampa! It was a great weekend! Our team always amazes me! Of course, it is such an awesome opportunity to get to watch Eli on the boat. He is such an inspiration to me and to others. Way to go HydroBLADES for giving it your all and showing that we really have come a long way since the tribes inception just a little over a year ago. You are all the best!

USA Dragon Boat Time Trials

I want to say thanks for the support that everyone has
shown over the past couple weeks for those
making the trip to the time trials.
Going into this experience we had a very good idea that the chances of
actually making the US team would be slim, but what else do we have to
lose? If anything we gained priceless experience and have an idea what
our competition is.
Of the teams that showed it was clear the the guys trialing were the
heart of the engine room for their respective teams. The average height
was well over 6 feet and the times were around 2:58, the best being 2:47 and
the worst being in the 3:20's. I want to say that the talent there was amazing.

Now, these trials were just an opportunity to qualify for an invite to Philly
for an official trial for around 3 seats available for the Premier
team(under40). Bob only selected 2 Florida top times (Dan 2:47 and Paul 2:52).
Bruno and I did not make that cut but Bruno had a well respected time of 2:58.
When you see him please congratulate him. I on the other had didn't do as well
versus these engine room studs, I posted a time of 3:15.

During all the organizing of these trials it was thought that since the
best paddlers in the area were going to be in Tampa for trials, that a
Florida all-star team would be tested. It was refreshing to be in a boat
that with paddlers that were focused and alert. there was no chatting, when
the coach was talking, there was full understanding of what was going on. I
enjoyed every minute of my experience.

Visit to ATL

We were lucky enough to get to go to Atlanta a few weeks ago to visit my godson for his baptism. It was great to see how much Isaiah had grown and to just hang out with my best friend. We also got to sneak in a visit with Auntie Wanda. All in all it was probably my last flight for a while and it was well worth it. Eli and I got a good opportunity to see what our little one will be doing in about 8 months. Looks like we have our work cut out for us. :o)
